Teaching
Review student work, share messages and files, and check email history.
Open a student's course record to check progress, read submitted work and approve it when needed. Owners and managers can review students in their school.
Review student work
Open the right course record
Open the student's record and choose Review course record for the group you want to check.
The record shows their current step and completed work in that group.
Read the response
Open the step you want to review. First check whether the work is still a draft or has been submitted. Then read the response or open its files.
Check the status before you take action:
| Record | What to check |
|---|---|
| Progress | Current slide, completed steps and completion dates. Recent activity alone does not show whether the student understood the lesson. |
| File response | Submitted files, response status, submission date and approval date. A draft is not a submitted response. |
| Quiz | Questions from the student's attempt, saved answers, available results and submission status. Free-text answers are not automatically marked correct or incorrect. |
| Appointment | Booking status, scheduled time and meeting link when available. |
Approve work when required
When a student's current step has a submitted file response or quiz that needs approval, choose Approve response. A draft cannot be approved. After approval, the student can continue when that step's other rules allow it.
If a student is blocked, first check their current step, submission status and continuation rule. Dates or a required submission may still prevent progress. See Lessons.
Messages and recipients
First decide who should receive the message. Use the group's Feed for an update to the class, or Direct messages for private feedback. The course record also gives access to that student's messages.
Write the message, add any files and check the recipients before sharing.
| Choice | Effect |
|---|---|
| Everyone | Shares with the group. Do not put private feedback in a class post. |
| Selected students | Shares only with the selected students and authorised staff. Check the recipients before sharing. |
| Save draft | Keeps a post unshared. |
| Share now | Shares the post with its chosen audience. |
| Edit | Changes the post in the app. It cannot recall or change an email already sent. |
| Archive post | Removes the post from Feed and Direct messages. |
A post needs text or at least one file. Wait for uploads to finish before sharing. If sharing fails, choose Retry share and check the post before creating another one. Students can react to messages they can see.
Files
Files brings together course media, shared files and response files available in that view. A student's view is limited to files they can access. Sharing a file with selected students does not make it a class-wide file.
Open or download files from the app. If a file is still processing, wait and try again.
Email history
Open Email history in the student's record. Choose an email to read its content and attachments, or load older entries.
History shows emails accepted by the sending provider since the history began. It excludes sign-in codes, staff invitations, manager emails and earlier messages. An entry does not prove delivery or that the student read it. To retry a failed access email, use Retry access emails in Course release.
Replies by email
Reply to a private-message email only if it invites a reply. Class announcements do not open a private email thread.
Replies must come from the address that received the message, while that student still has course access. Email attachments are skipped; send files from the app. Quoted messages are removed from the reply. Editing a post does not change emails already waiting to be sent.
