Issue course certificates
Enable automatic certificates, prepare the design and find a student's completed PDF.
Taskpipe can prepare a PDF certificate when a student finishes the required course work. Set it up before students complete the course: turning it on later does not issue certificates for earlier completions.
Turn on certificates
Open the course's Course defaults → Certificate to set up future groups. For an existing group, open its Settings → Certificate. Turn on Automatic certificates and check that the switch stays on after saving.
The course setting is copied when a group is created. Existing groups keep their own switch. Turning certificates off keeps earned certificates available.
Prepare the design
Choose Edit design. Use Insert field to add the student's name, course name, completion date, organization name or certificate number. Add your own text or a typed or drawn signature if needed. Move and resize fields, then check that long names have room.
For a background, choose Upload background and select a readable PNG, JPEG or PDF up to 10 MB. A PDF uses its first page and must not be password protected. If an upload fails, retry before saving a replacement.
Open Preview certificate to check the design with a sample student. Preview includes unsaved changes but does not save them. Choose Save certificate and wait for confirmation before leaving.
Choose the design for a group
A group can use the course's certificate design or save its own. Use course default removes the group's custom design and returns it to the course design. Check the preview before making that change.
Design changes apply to certificates earned afterwards. An earned certificate keeps its saved name, course title, date and design. Editing the current course does not rewrite that PDF.
Find the completed certificate
After the student completes the required work, their course overview shows the certificate. Staff can find it in the student's course record. Choose Download certificate when it is ready. The student may be asked to confirm their name before the certificate can be prepared.
| Status | What to do |
|---|---|
| Being prepared | Wait and check again. Course completion is already recorded. |
| Could not be prepared | Use Try again in the certificate panel. |
| No certificate | Check whether certificates were enabled when the student completed the course and whether all required work is complete. |
| Download failed | Retry the download. If it still fails, give support the course and student record details. |
Earned certificates stay available after the course access period ends. See Lessons for required work and Groups for access periods.
